WHITE FERNS VERSUS PAKISTAN - SIR JOHN DAVIES OVAL, QUEENSTOWN
RESULT: NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 131 RUNS
New Zealand had an amazing opening stand between Suzie Bates and Bernie Bezuidenhout (who made her highest ODI score).
They were able to score well off the bowlers with the 50-run partnership being in 9.2 overs. Bezuidenhout was the first to make a 50, with her maiden ODI 50 coming in 55 balls.
The 100-run partnership was the next milestone to be made with it coming in 105 balls and then Bates joined Bezuidenhout on passing the 50-run mark with that coming in 57 balls.
Bezuidenhout and Bates kept building their innings and partnership passing 150 runs in 24.3 overs, the White Ferns sitting around the run-a-ball mark at that stage.
Beuzidenhout was the first to go, in the 26th over for a run-a-ball 86 with a miscommunication between her and Bates leading to a runout.
Amelia Kerr joined Bates at the crease and they built on the platform that had already been laid between Bates and Bezuidenhout as both Kerr and Bates upped the scoring rate.
The 50-run stand between the two was made in 54 balls, and not long after Bates had cruised to a 13th ODI century from 100 balls.
Bates did fall 8 runs after passing her century, being bowled by Umme Hani.
Kerr then combined with Sophie Devine for a fast-paced partnership.
With the runs flowing easily for the batters Kerr soon passed 50 from 43 balls.
The 50-run stand between Devine and Kerr was made in 39 balls whilst the 100-run stand took 57 balls, with Devine taking to all the bowlers.
She made 50 in 29 balls which heavily contributed to the attacking play of the White Ferns.
Both Kerr (83) and Devine (70) fell before the end of the innings with Maddy Green (4*) and Izzy Gaze (1*) seeing Aotearoa through to 365.
The Pakistan batters got off to a faster start than the White Ferns with their fifty-run opening stand being made in 8.1 overs having over a run-a-ball at the end of the powerplay.
The first major milestone for Pakistan was Sidra Amin’s 50 which came from 51 balls. Amin and Muneeba Ali then had a 100-run stand in 103 balls.
Not long after the White Ferns made the first breakthrough with Muneeba out for 44.
Sadaf Shamas joined Amin at the crease, but their partnership wasn’t very fast with 18 runs between them coming in just over 6 overs.
Fran Jonas picked up Shamas' wicket for 10 runs after she had replaced captain Nida Dar as a concussion replacement.
Bismah Maroof joined Amin at the crease and they had a 30-run partnership in 8.2 overs, a time when Pakistan needed to be going at around 6 runs an over if they wanted a chance to take a victory.
Aliya Riaz could only add 14 runs to the total and Omaima Sohail only got 7.
Amin made her 4th ODI century, a knock that came from 113 balls.
Once Pakistan lost her wicket the lower order batters of Fatima Sana (11), Najiha Alvi (3), Umme Hani (9), Nashra Sundhu (1), and Ghulam Fatima (2). Amelia Kerr picked up two of their wickets whilst Lea Tahuhu got the other two.
Pakistan finished on 234/10 in 49.5 overs with Amin’s century being the top score.
