Rain the Winner in Christchurch

Both matches in Christchurch have ended without a winner as the rain took the win.

Canterbury Magicians vs Central Hinds

The match was called off at 13:03 after persistent rain with no toss made.

Canterbury Kings vs Central Stags

After some rain around the region a game did look unlikely, but as the weather cleared a game was on! A reduction in overs was announced to 11 overs per side.

Will Young and Bayley Wiggins opened up and got the Stags off to a good start with Wiggins hitting the last ball of the first over for six.

With the game only being 11 overs, the Stags had to attack early and Wiggins tried to keep going in the second over but was caught on the boundary for a run-a-ball eight.

Dane Cleaver couldn’t add anything to the score as he skied a ball to wicketkeeper Tom Latham for a three-ball duck. The Stags soon found themselves in further trouble with Young trying to go for a big shot but was caught by Daryl Mitchell off Michael Rae for two.

Josh Clarkson and Bruce nearly saw the Stags through to the end of the fifth over but Henry picked up Clarkson for 6.

The rain was continuing to fall and the umpires decided to bring the covers on and no more play occurred with the match recorded as a no result.

The Stags finished on 21/4 after 4.5 overs.
