Day 1 of Plunket Shield Round 2 kicked off with wickets tumbling in both Auckland and Nelson, whilst Canterbury put runs on the board in Christchurch. NORTHERN DISTRICTS VERSUS AUCKLAND ACES

Auckland won the toss and sent Northern into bat, a decision that didn’t pay off for them.
They quickly found themselves sitting at 39/4 after only 10 overs. Kristian Clarke had already picked up three wickets, with Will O’Donnell (7), Quinn Sunde (0), and George Worker (13) all falling victim to Clarke. Kuggeleijn had the wicket of Solia (8).
Cam Fletcher and captain Robbie O’Donnell found some resistance to the Northern bowlers with O’Donnell bringing up his fifty in 65 balls.
Fletcher and O’Donnell both departed soon after each other. Fletcher became Brett Hampton’s only victim of the innings, as he fell for 20 and Clarke picked up his fourth, O’Donnell went for 61.
The lower-order batters were able to add a few runs to the board but Ryan Harrison (23) and Simon Keene (18) were out, the score sitting at 165/8.
Clarke was reintroduced into the attack and had both Danru Ferns (12) and Matt Gibson (0), gone within the same over. Auckland was dismissed for 184, Clarke being the pick of the bowlers.
Northern got their batting innings off to a flying start being 56/1 when Henry Cooper (39) was dismissed. Sandeep Patel fell with 2.3 overs left in the day but Jeet Raval and Joe Carter saw them through to the end of play.

Auckland started the day by taking the wicket of the dangerous Jeet Raval.

They then suffered a minor hiccup with both Solia and Fletcher departing before the end of the day, all three wickets falling to pacer Zak Gibson as he finished the day with figures of 3/7.
