Day One kicked off with a bang with 30 wickets being collected altogether with no one team being on top in all 3 games.
OTAGO VS CENTRAL DISTRICTS
End of Play: Central Districts all out for 182 with Greg Hay's (59) getting demolished with Jacob Duffy picking up 3/28. Otago 35/3 with Thorn Parkes on 14
Otago won the toss and decided to send CD into Bat, a decision that played out well in the end.
After a four-ball duck from Matt Boyle, things didn't get much better for CD. Brad Schmulian, Tom Bruce and Dane Cleaver all went for 1 and 6 for the latter 2 respectively. Clarkson nor Bracewell got a start scoring 13 and 17. Greg Hay went for 59 after setting the tone after opening.
Otago shared around the wickets with Duffy ending with 3 and Bacon, Georgeson, Gibson, McKay and Foxcroft all got one. Randell went for 29 then Patel for 23 the tail was about to be cleaned up. Tickner got 8 not out and Ray Toole scored 1.
Dean Foxcroft spoke after the close of play. He said, "The rain helped us last week but I think for us the team needs to reset and look forward to the next game. It was Day 1 today and we bounced back nice with the ball."
Auckland vs Canterbury
End of Play: Auckland 217 all out George Worker's (60) got smashed by Michael Rae with 3/27. Canterbury are 8/1 at stumps.
Canterbury won the toss and sent Auckland into bat. A great decision at the end of it.
Canterbury had an alright start with Sean Solia going for 2 off 14 early on. However, the rest of the top order dug in. Will O'Donnell scored 36 while Sunde and Robbie O'Donnell scored 28 each. George Worker dug in to score 60. Briggs and Harrison scored 18 each in the middle order. The tail offered no fight with Keene, Ashok, Ferns, and Delport scoring less than 10 each.
Canterbury's bowlers had a mixed bag. Rae took 3 with O'Rourke and Foulkes taking 2. Rippon, McKenzie and Sheat took 1 with McConchie taking none. Auckland knocked over Bowes for 4 with no more time to play.
Wellington vs Northern Districts
End of Play: Wellington are 234/6 after 26 in a day that was cut to two sessions. Robinson is currently top score with 60 and Hampton is 3/50.
Northern Districts elected to bowl in a move that turned out to be a concerning one.
The promise for ND at the start turned to nervousness by the end with Wellington dominating. Johnson and Greenwood scored 5 and 16 however the rest of the top saved them. Severin, Kelly, and Robinson pitched in with 40, 51 and 60 for themselves. McLachlan then went out to a duck with Nathan Smith on 46 right now.
The ND bowlers are in shambles apart from Kris Clarke and Hampton on 3 wickets each with Kuggeleijn, Fisher and Walker on none. ND have to get quick wickets tomorrow to even stand a chance.
