Otago Volts and Auckland Aces appoint Head Coach's

Today both Associations at opposite ends of the country appointed their new head coaches for the 2024/25 season.

Otago has appointed Ashely Noffke as their new head coach replacing Dion Ebrahim. Noffke a former Australian international is the Head of Female Pathways at Queensland Cricket and Head Coach of both the Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire women's teams.

He is also the Head Coach of the London Spirit Women's in the Hundred and bowling coach of UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League.

The former Queensland first-class representative has a proven track record that an Otago coach hasn't seen for quite a while.

The question is will he bring Otago to new heights or will he fall like his predecessor?

Rob Nicol has been appointed the new Head Coach of the Aces after coaching the Hearts for the last 2 years. Nicol has played for the Blackcaps in all 3 formats while also playing first-class cricket for Otago, Canterbury and Auckland retiring in 2018.

After a lacklustre Dream 11 Super Smash last season for the Hearts it begs the question if he is really the right person for the Aces in this next season where the pressure is increasing to perform.

Is hiring an inexperienced coach going to pay off for the Aces or will this turn out to be a dud needing to go back to the drawing board?
