New Zealand win over Bangladesh in a rain-affected game

New Zealand has defeated Bangladesh by 44 runs via DLS in a rain-affected game.


The toss was won by Bangladesh, who decided to bowl first.


Rachin Ravindra on his second ball knicked off to Shoriful Islam, then Henry Nicholls also knicked off on 0. Tom Latham and Will Young kicked stabilised after the rough patch and made Bangladesh pay.


At 13.2 overs was the second rain delay with the game getting reduced to 40 overs. A dry patch started for Bangladesh with Tom Latham scoring a 50 and bringing up 4,000 ODI runs before the third rain delay.


After the rain delay the game was shortened to 30 overs Will Young brought up his 50 very soon after the break. The Blackcaps brought up the 200 and it was all fine as Tom Latham and Will Young were seeing the Bangladeshi bowlers like prime Martin Guptil and Prime Brendon McCullum. Until Tom Latham got bowled on 92.


Will Young brought up the ton while Chapman hit a quick-fire 20. Will Young was dismissed for 105 with Clarkson, Blundell and Milne all scoring 1.


Soumya Sarkar went immediately for 0 off 4. Najmul Hossain Shanto went for 15 not long after and Bangladesh couldn't find a partner for Anamul Haque Bijoy who ultimately went for 43. Linton Das also couldn't stay around for long with him going for 22.


Mushfiqur Rahim went for 4 and Bangladesh needed a miracle to win the match. Afif Hossain went for 38 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz stayed out there for 28. Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud went for 5 and 4 respectively. In the end, Bangladesh scored 200/9 off 30 overs.
