First Innings:
Ni Kadek Ariani and Kadek Ayu Kurniartini opened the batting for the Indonesian side. New Zealand captain, Izzy Sharp, handed Anna Browning the ball. Browning was able to get the wicket of Ariani for a golden duck, caught by Izzy Gaze. The New Zealand bowlers did their best to stop the flow of runs with Tash Codyre, Kayley Knight and Louisa Kotkamp all able to slow down the scoring by the Indonesian batters. Tash Wakelin was bought into the attack following the powerplay and picked up her first wicket of the tournament removing Kurniartini for 13, caught by Paige Loggenberg. Wakelin also struck in her next over running out Gusti Ayu Ratna Ulansari for four, with an excellent throw from the boundary by Georgia Plimmer. Wakelin also picked up her second wicket and Loggenberg took her second catch with the Ni Luh Ketut Dewi gone for 12 from 26. Thersiana Penu Weo and Desi Wulandari were now going to have to try and resurrect the Indonesian innings. Weo and Wulandari were taking a couple of runs each over, but couldn’t find many boundaries in the partnership. The Kiwi bowlers were bowling tight lines and were keeping the energy and tempo up in the field also to help build more pressure. Browning picked up her second wicket of the match with Weo falling for 11, caught by Wakelin. Ni Kadek Murtiari came to the middle but was only able to last a little over an over before Wakelin picked up her third wicket of the match. Ni Kadek Dewi Indriyani and Wulandari were slowly moving the game along and ticking the score over every now and then. Gaze/Knight were able to remove Indriyani for two in the 19th over. Ni Made Suraniasih and Wulandari only managed to pick up four runs from the final over. Indonesia finished on 74/7 from their 20 overs. Wakelin took three wickets and Browning two. Wulandari top scored with 16 whilst Kuriartini and Dewi contributed 13 and 12 respectively.
Second Innings:
Antonia Hamilton and Anna Browning opened the batting innings for the Kiwis. Both batters were looking like they were going to be scoring with intent and get the game wrapped up as soon as they could. Browning scored a four off the second ball of the innings to get New Zealand’s first runs in an ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup tournament. The second over went for 10 runs but did include three wides. Browning and Hamilton were trying to hit the gaps and score freely. After four overs, they had already piled on 32 runs for the loss of no wickets, with Browning the higher scorer so far, on 17 and Hamilton on 11. The New Zealand side was able to take 10 runs from the fifth and sixth overs of the game to make their way to 52/0. In the first couple of overs after the powerplay, Hamilton and Browning slowed down their scoring rate as they adjusted to the two more fielders being allowed outside the inner circle. Once they had settled in again, they took nine runs from the ninth over and Browning finished off the game with a six in the 10th over, to give the New Zealand Under 19 Side a 10-wicket win. Browning made 38 and Hamilton scored 21. Dewi was the most economical bowler for Indonesia only going for 12 runs from her two overs. Tash Wakelin was awarded the player of the match for her 3/14.
Result: New Zealand Under 19 win by 10 wickets.
