Sidra Amin was joined by Bismah Maroof and they put on 15 runs for the second wicket before Hannah Rowe joined in on the wickets, Amin out for 12.

Natalia Parvaiz and new captain, Fatima Sana then put on a solid 90 run stand for the fifth wicket. The 50 runs between them took 86 balls with Parvaiz contributing 25 and Sana 19.

The pair kept pushing on together and adding more runs to the scoreboard and just as they were looking like they were going to put on a massive game breaking partnership, Penfold provided the breakthrough for the White Ferns with Parvaiz being trapped LBW for 39 from 73.

Najiha Alvi made her way to the middle and formed a solid 65 run stand with Sana.

New Zealand’s innings got off to a rocky start with Amelia Kerr falling in the first over, following her promotion to opener as Bezuidenhout had injured herself in the field.

Sophie Devine then fell in the third over for 6 and the White Ferns soon found themselves 13/2.

Suzie Bates’ and Maddy Green put on a massive 132 run stand for the third wicket to drag New Zealand out of a hole and possibly into a winnable position.

Bates was the first to bring up a fifty with it coming from 65 balls and then a few runs later, the 100 run stand was also made.

One ball following this, Green had her 6th ODI fifty with it coming from 65 balls.

Bates fell in the 32nd over, starting a flow of the White Ferns losing wickets. She departed for a well made 74, with Ghulma Fatima getting the wicket.

Green then went a couple of overs later for 83, Fatima getting the second wicket.

Izzy Gaze didn’t last long at the crease, contributing six runs and Hannah Rowe could only manage one run, Fatima getting her third and fourth wickets.

Bezuidenhout and Lea Tahuhu added 15 runs for the eighth wicket, but Bezuidenhout then was out caught and bowled for 3, the White Ferns now in serious trouble at 198/8.

Penfold and Tahuhu added 10 runs in the following 3.4 overs, but Nashra Sundhu found the breakthrough to leave the Kiwis at 208/9.

Tahuhu and Jonas then saw their side home with a three to tie up the game before a wide brought the game to an end.
