Mair, Halliday, Kasperek All Return to White Ferns for England Tour

The White Ferns have named a strong side to take on England with players being rewarded following quality domestic form.

Rosemary Mair, Brooke Halliday, and Leigh Kasperek have all been included across the T20I and ODI squads to play England.

Mair and Halliday have been selected for both the T20I and ODI parts of the tour. Kasperek will take part in the fourth and fifth games of the T20 leg with Eden Carson in the squad for games one, two, and three.

All three players that have been recalled are coming off good summers for their domestic sides. Mair was the highlight of the Central Hinds in their first T20 final since 2010 as she claimed figures of 4/5 against the Blaze.

Halliday returns to the White Ferns having recovered from a foot injury that saw her absent for the majority of the domestic and international summer. She did impress for Auckland when she returned, with a score of 108 against Canterbury.

Speaking on her recall to the side, Mair said:

“I’m very excited to get a recall”

“I think the main one for me was my runup, so over the winter Ben Sawyer said that it would be really important for me to try and get a few extra kilometres.”

Sawyer was also in high praise for Mair saying that she has “had a great domestic season”

and “been an integral part of the Central Hinds side this summer and has stepped up with her leadership and extra pace, which has been pleasing.”

He also spoke on the importance of Halliday and how Kasperek has been rewarded with her domestic performance for the Blaze.

“She’s (Halliday) an important member of our middle order and, like Rosemary, has shown some strong performances in the domestic season since returning for the Hearts.”

“Leigh has been really impressive with her performances and leadership for the Wellington Blaze this summer.”

“She’s been consistent across both the T20 and 50-over campaigns for Wellington and she continues to be part of our planning for the ICC T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

“She’ll bring a wealth of experience to the group for the T20 internationals and will add strong leadership in the New Zealand A group.

Hayley Jensen won’t take part in the tour as she returned from knee surgery last year but will feature for New Zealand A against England A.

Georgia Plimmer will only take part in the ODI series as she, Carson, and Kasperek will feature in the T20 and 50-over series against England A.

Sophie Devine, Melie Kerr, and Lea Tahuhu will all have cover named for them closer to the series with potential unavailability due to the WPL finals.
