Capped England international Linsey Smith has been announced as an overseas signing for the Otago Sparks in the Dream 11 Super Smash this season.
Smith has played 81 LA games and 169 T20 games and 9 T20is with 98 LA wickets, 157 T20s and 9 wickets in T20Is. She made her international debut in 2018 against Bangladesh during the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup and played two games during the tournament, against Bangladesh and South Africa.
She was awarded a rookie contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2019 and played on tours to India, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. Smith was also named in the squad of 24 players to begin training ahead of the 2020 season with England following the Covid-19 pandemic but didn’t play that summer.
In the 2022/23 Super Smash, Smith played four games for the Otago Sparks but unfortunately didn’t pick up any wickets. She did score 36 runs across the two innings she batted in with a high score of 34. Smith has played for several teams over her career, representing Berkshire, Southern Vipers, Sussex, Loughborough Lightning, Yorkshire Diamonds, Northern Diamonds, Northern Superchargers, Melbourne Stars, and the Sydney Sixers.
