Kiwi Cricket Kōrero Release

We are proud to announce our project, Kiwi Cricket Kōrero, to the world. A blog and podcast dedicated to kirikiti wāhine and tāne in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our aims are to spread the great game to a wider audience and provide great coverage on both men’s and women’s cricket.

Ran by two women’s and kiwi cricket loving writers, Ellie Indie and Vincent Jones, we aim to shine a spotlight on NZ cricket to people around the globe and emphasis on Te Reo Māori.

We are keen on the usage of Te Reo Māori as we understand the importance of inclusivity and making this sport a more widely accessible place for people in Māori communities, and the importance the language holds in Aotearoa.

With both founders being keen fans of kirikiti wāhine, we would like to post frequently on the sport with a large portion of Kiwi Cricket Kōrero centring women's international and domestic cricket.

We are also aiming to highlight domestic and community competitions in and around Aotearoa, as well as the Pasifika nations surrounding it.

We will be releasing our podcast closer to the domestic playing season, with our blog running as a regular source of articles throughout the year covering all things domestic, overseas and international cricket.

We cannot wait to get Kiwi Cricket Kōrero up and running and we appreciate all the support we get in our preject to promote New Zealand Cricket.

Ellie Indie, founder and writer for the podcast:

I've been attracted to New Zealand cricket since I first found the Women's Super Smash 2 years ago. It's been clear to me that the coverage of domestic cricket in both men's and women's competitions has been poor over the years, which is why the idea of Kiwi Cricket Kōrero came about.
Both me and Vincent hope to do New Zealand's cricketers right by putting them in the spotlight.
I can't wait to get cracking with Kiwi Cricket Kōrero, we've been working on this for over 3 months behind the scenes and I'm so excited to announce the project to the world!

Vincent Jones, founder and writer for the podcast:

Over the years I've seen very limited media coverage of the men's and women's domestic competitions here in Aotearoa New Zealand. I have always wanted to make sure that there is a chance for the cricketing players to get attention and so that the young stars of Aotearoa can be recognised!
I am very excited to see what Kiwi Cricket Kōrero can lead to, and am super excited to get started.
Ellie and I both hope that we can build some great coverage of the competitions to provide the attention it deserves.
