The Dream11 Super Smash schedule has been announced this afternoon, and it sure brings an exciting start to an exciting summer of cricket in Aotearoa!
There are 32 double-headers scheduled down for the summer, spread across 10 different venues from Eden Park Outer Oval in Auckland down to University of Otago Oval in Dunedin.
The season kicks off in Auckland with the 2022/23 Dream11 Super Smash runners-up, the Canterbury Kings travelling up the Aotearoa’s largest city to take on the Auckland Aces starting at 12:30. Later in the afternoon, the 2022/23 Champions, the Canterbury Magicians will play the Auckland Hearts.
The Northern Brave kick their season off in Hamilton, hosting the Central Stags and Hinds.
Christmas Eve will be a spectacle in Wellington, with the Blaze and the Firebirds hosting the Auckland Hearts and Aces. A boxing day boomer will then be played between the two most southern associations in the country, the Canterbury Kings and Magicians who host the Otago Volts and Sparks at Hagley Oval.
New Year's Eve will once again feature Pukekura Park action, with the Central Stags and Hinds hosting the Cantaberians. The day before, the Central sides will host the Aucklanders. New Year’s Day cricket will be coming from Molyneux Park in Alexandra as Otago play Auckland.
The final is scheduled to be played on Sunday the 28th of January and the elimination final on the Friday beforehand.
The majority of games are running through school holidays, so NZC are hoping to bring new people in to watch the games.
GM of Venues, Facilities and Events, Graham Parks said that “To have our flagship domestic competition available to as many New Zealanders as possible is a fantastic opportunity,”
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to build the profiles of our domestic teams and players and bring in new people that have watched cricket to the game.”
International players from the White Ferns will also be available for the majority of the season and should be available following the Pakistan tour to Aotearoa.
Matches will also be available on free on air television for those who can’t make it to the grounds. Streaming will be available va TVNZ+ and Duke.
