Bangladesh got off to an alright start with Zakir Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan Joy adding 39 runs for the first wicket before Hasan fell for 12.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto joined Hasan Joy in the middle and they had a 53 run partnership for the second wicket to set up their side nicely. Glenn Phillips picked up his maiden test wicket, that being Shanto for a quickfire 37 from 35.

All of the Bangladesh batters were working well in the middle together, with this leading to quality partnerships between them. The knock from Mominul Haque and Hasan Joy showed this, with their partnership of 88 being the biggest of the innings.

Phillips however kept being a bit of a weapon for the Kiwis as he grabbed his second wicket, making the breakthrough with the dismissal of Haque for 37. Ish Sodhi then got Hasan Joy for 86 to leave Bangladesh at 184/4.

Mushfiqur Rahim soon departed for 12 and then Medhidy Hasan Miraz for 20 with Ajaz Patel and Kyle Jamieson picking up the wickets respectively.

Shahadat Hossain and Nurul Hasan were able to steady the Bangladeshi innings and they did this well, with Hossain getting to 24 and Hasan making a quick 29 from 28. Phillips got both of their wickets as he grabbed figures of 4/53.

Nayeem Hasan was out for 16, Jamieson getting a second and Shoriful Islam making 13 from 9, being the last man dismissed.

New Zealand got off to an ok start with the bat as Tom Latham and Devon Conway opened up for the visitors, having been sent in by Bangladesh.

Latham (21) was the first one to go in the 13th over, followed quickly by Conway (12) who went in the 16th to leave the New Zealanders at 44/2.

Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls were able to steady the innings as they brought up a fifty run partnership in 78 balls with Williamson contributing 29 and Nicholls 17.

Nicholls did fall 2 runs later for 19. Like Williamson had done with Nicholls, he repeated the same with Mitchell as the pair got a 50 run partnership, Mitchell being the more aggressive one.

He soon however fell to Taijul Islam for 41 from 54, and Tom Blundell could only make 6 runs in his 23 ball stay at the crease.

Phillips and Williamson then combined for a 78 run partnership with the 50 runs between them being made in 68 balls.

The next three wickets fell in quick succession for the Blackcaps with Haque grabbing Phillips for 42 whilst Williamson made 104 and Sodhi 0, both falling to Islam.

Jamieson and Southee then combined for a great partnership at number 9, reaching 50 runs in 103 balls.

When Jamieson departed for 23 it only took Bangladesh a further 4 balls to have the Blackcaps all out for 317, a lead of 7 runs for the visitors.

Bangladesh didn’t get off to the best of starts unlike the first innings with Hasan and Hasan Joy falling inside the first 14 overs with Patel removing Hasan for 17 and Southee running out Hasan Joy for 8.

Haque and Hossain Shanto then got Bangladesh back on track with the innings adding a 90 run partnership for the third wicket to put Bangladesh back in control.

When Haque fell for 40, this brought Rahim out to join Hossain Shanto and they built extremely well on the platform that had already been laid before them. A partnership of 90 runs was made in just under 30 overs.

Hossain Shanto fell for a score of 105 runs from 198 being dismissed by opposing captain Southee.

Shahadat Hossain and Rahim picked up the pace of the innings adding 30 runs in the next 5 overs, Hossain being removed for 18 from 19 by Sodhi.

Hasan Miraz and Rahim contributed runs to the score in the 10 overs that they were at the crease, but the loss of Rahim with the score at 278/6 saw them all out for 338.

Nurul Hasan (10), Nayeem Hasan (4), Taijul Islam (0) and Shoriful (10) Islam were the 4 batters that were dismissed. The spin of Sodhi, Patel and Phillips all contributed to their wickets with Patel getting 4 overall.

Hasan Miraz was the not out batter for 50 from 76 balls.

The Blackcaps got off to a bad start in pursuit of 332 runs with Latham falling in the first over for 0, Williamson in the 10th for 11 and Nicholls in the 13th over for 2.

Conway and Mitchell then had a go at trying to get the Blackcaps back into the game, but Conway was out for 22 from 76 balls to Taijul Islam who grabbed his second wicket of the innings.

Blundell then fell with the score at 60/5 for 6, Taijul Islam grabbing a third.

Glenn Phillips tried to add some runs to the total with Mitchell but could only add 12 runs before Nayeem Hasan had his first wicket of the innings.

Mitchell was getting little help from his teammates as Jamieson was out for 9 before the end of the fourth day.

Sodhi and Mitchell started day four with the task of trying to somehow either get the Blackcaps to victory or at best a draw.

They lasted 8 overs the day before Mitchell went for 58, Nayeem Hasan getting him.

Sodhi and Southee then lasted 9 overs, Southee deciding to go on the attack with a quickfire 34 from 24, Taijul Islam grabbing his fifth wicket of the innings.

Taijul Islam then got a 6 wicket in the innings with the final wicket of the game, Sodhi out for 22.

Bangladesh took the win by 150 runs with Taijul Islam picking up 6 wickets in the first innings to go with his four in the first.
