Hinds Bowlers Power Them to Victory Over Brave-W; Complete Performance by Brave-M Gives Them Victory Over the Stags

Northern Brave Women vs Central Hinds

Northern’s openers started with an encouraging 24-run stand between Tash Wakelin and Nensi Patel.

Kerry Tomlinson got the opening wicket for the Hinds with the runout of Wakelin for 13.

Unfortunately for the homeside, they soon lost a few wickets with Caitlin Gurrey falling for 3 in the seventh over and Jess Watkin going for 10 in the ninth over with Rosemary Mair and Flora Devonshire picking them up respectively.

The wicket of Nensi Patel in the tenth over for 17, left the Brave sitting at 45/4.

A quality stand of 48 runs for the fifth wicket between captain Eimear Richardson and the experienced Sam Barriball steadied their side's innings. Mair then grabbed her second wicket of the day as Richardson sent a shot to the hands of Claudia Green for 28 from 23.

Carol Agafili then had a great lower-order cameo of 22 from 12 innings that included two fours and a six.

Mair grabbed Agafili on the final ball of the innings leaving Barriball on 23* from 31 and the Brave finishing on 119/6 from their 20 overs.

The Hinds openers went on the attack early with Natalie Dodd (28) and Hollie Armitage (24) having a 49-run opening stand to set them up nicely.

The loss of Armitage soon had Thamsyn Newton walking back for 4 as she fell to Jess Watkin.

Agafili then struck with the big wicket of Dodd to leave the Hinds sitting at 64/3, sitting 56 runs needed for the win.

Mikaela Greig (13) and Hannah Rowe shared a valuable stand of 31 runs for the fourth wicket before Atkinson (7*) and Rowe (35*) saw their side to a six-wicket win in the final over.

Northern Brave Men vs Central Stags

The Brave openers of Tim Seifert and Katene Clarke had a powerful opening stand of 70 runs in only 5.3 overs as they took to the bowling of Bevan Small, Joey Field, Blair Tickner and Jayden Lennox in the first four overs.

The wicket of Clarke for 28 was grabbed by Ajaz Patel and then Tickner had Seifert out for 43 from 23 in the next over.

Joe Carter and Jeet Raval carried on the building of runs in their 46-run stand for the third wicket but this was brought to an end by Lennox with Carter trying to come down the wicket but ended with him being stumped by Dane Cleaver for 21.

Mitch Santner only added nine runs before falling to Will Clark, in what would be his only over of the innings.

Raval grabbed his half-century from 28 balls but the next ball found himself walking back to the pavilion as he was bowled by Lennox for 52.

Some late lower hitting by Brett Hampton got Northern up to 196/9 from their 20 overs.

Patel took three wickets whilst Field and Lennox both got two each.

The Stags never got off to a good start with the bat as they lost their top three before the end of the fifth over.

Bayley Wiggins made a six-ball duck falling to Neil Wagner, Jack Boyle got only six runs as he was dismissed by Tim Southee and Cleaver was run out by Santner for 11.

Youngsters, Clark and Curtis Heaphy (on debut) lead a fightback from the Stags as they shared a 56-run stand in 7.2 overs, with 50 runs being made in 37 balls.

With an increasing run rate, Clark tried to hit down the ground but found the hands of Raval for 29 from 21. Heaphy fell one run later for 31 from 34.

The Stags batting quickly collapsed with Doug Bracewell (2), Field (0), Patel (2), and Small (10) all falling before one hundred runs were on the board.

Tickner and Lennox then shared a 42-run stand for the tenth wicket as they made the highest Super Smash tenth wicket stand.

Tickner fell with one ball left in the innings for 22 with Southee bowling him. Lennox finished not out on 20.

The Brave picked up a 55-run victory with two wickets each for Scott Kuggeleijn (2/17), Southee (2/28) and Santner (2/23).
