New Zealand Cricket have announced the 15-man squad for the ODI series against England. Blackcaps pacers Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson have received recalls to the New Zealand side.
Regular ODI captain Kane Williamson is managing an ACL injury he suffered in April with Tom Latham taking the captaincy job for this series. Williamson will link up with the side during the tour to train and continue his rehabilitation.
Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham will miss the four-game ODI series, as they await the births of their first children. Ish Sodhi will also return home after the T20I series against England to spend time with his whānau after a busy period of playing both international and domestic cricket.
Blackcaps coach Gary Stead stated that “We’re delighted to include Kyle in this squad alongside his earlier selection for the T20 squads to play the UAE and England.”
Stead also hinted that Boult would be picked for the ODI World Cup in India, stating in the NZ Cricket Press Release, "It’s also great to welcome Trent back into our ODI unit as he begins his preparation towards the World Cup in India.”
Rachin Ravindra and Will Young have also been rewarded in gaining selection in the side after both have shown signs of promise over the last few seasons. Both players will want to perform well and push for selection in the ODI World Cup side.
Nine members of the ODI side are currently playing for various clubs in the Hundred. Blackcaps openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway along with spinner Mitchell Santner are playing for the Southern Brave. Lockie Ferguson was a late signing for the tournament and joined fellow Kiwis Matt Henry and Glenn Phillips in the Welsh Fire squad. New Zealand test captain, Tim Southee and all-rounder Daryl Mitchell are playing for the London Spirit whilst Adam Milne is representing the Birmingham Phoenix.
