Sparks vs Magicians
The Sparks won the toss and sent the Magicians into bat, which turned out to be a successful decision to start.
After 7.1 overs the Magicians were 30/5 with Kate Anderson, Maddie Penna, Jodie Dean, Kate Ebrahim, and Izzy Sharp all going for cheap early on.
All it took was one partnership with Nat Cox and Shikha Pandey to turn it all around. A 59 run partnership saved the inning for the Canterbury side.
Cox played the supporting role only scoring 23 but that was so important in the grand scheme.
Pandey finished on 63 off 48 with nine fours to her name ensuring a respectable total of 137/7 after their 20 overs.
Things didn't start off for the Sparks being three down just outside the powerplay with Bella James, Caitlin Blakely, and Felicity Robertson going for four, three, and nine respectively.
Polly Inglis and Suzie Bates steadied the ship for the Sparks scoring a 52-run partnership ensuring they had a fighting chance.
Bates bought up her 24th T20 50 for the Sparks too. She had to depart for 50 with the Sparks at 98/4 after 15.3 overs.
Inglis departed for 29 not long after and all hope was lost. Gain and Carson finished on 10 while Jensen and Gordon scored two and one respectively.
This brought the Sparks to 125/7 after 20 leading them to lose by 10 runs.
Volts vs Kings
After getting sent into bat the Volts started poorly with Jamal Todd going for a second ball duck with Kyle Jamieson getting the wicket on his return. An expansive drive led to the demise passing bat and pad on the way through.
Dale Phillips only lasted till the 3rd over being bowled for 10 by Jamieson taking another on his return to cricket.
Dean Foxcroft took a while to settle and never really did he got out for 12 off 17 adding to an already weak start to the season for him.
Next ball Llew Johnson went out for a golden duck, leaving Cole McConchie with two in the over, both caught with Johnson top edging one trying to flick out square.
Otago needed a savior or two and they responded. Max Chu and Leo Carter built a 69-run partnership to bring the side to 132-5 after 16 overs.
Carter went bowled by Henry Shipley another one of the Cantabrians that have returned from injury, he went for 35.

The Volts posted 165/9 after their 20 overs.
After getting smack for nine and 19 in two different overs, 17-year-old Mason Clarke picked up Chad Bowes for 24 off 11. Foxcroft made up for his attempt the first ball of the inning getting dropped diving to his right at cover.
First ball of the next over, Ben Lockrose bowled an out-swinger beating Tom Latham's outside edge while he charged down the wicket getting stumped for 4.
A 50-run partnership between Matt Boyle and McConchie stabilized Canterbury's inning putting them in prime position until Boyle had to depart for 18 leading the Kings to be 3 down.
A few overs later, on debut, Harry Chamberlain departed early for nine knicking off to Matt Bacon, leaving the Kings needing 65 off the final nine overs with six wickets in hand.
It didn't take long for McConchie to try to attack Lockrose getting caught out at cow corner by Dale Phillips for 49.
The lower middle order then fell apart with Rippon only going for four and Jamieson going for two.
Sodhi tried to wog it around for a little till he got out trying to get him back on strike for a bye. McKenzie also went first ball LBW while Rae got out pushing for as many runs as possible on the final ball.
